Cuyahoga Valley National Park
The Cuyahoga Valley national park is one of the parks in the US that preserves and reclaims the rural landscape along the Cuyahoga River. The park is situated between Akron and Cleveland in Northeast Ohio, it elongates over 130 square km and it is the only national park in Ohio. Its name is the translation of Cuyahoga which means crooked river in Mohawk. There are many things to be known about this park but one can better experience what it has to offer by going there and simply living it.The Cuyahoga valley national park is one of the main touristic attractions in the area. It manages to offer individuals with the opportunity to enjoy the wilderness of its landscape and fauna while providing them with different types of activities. Commonly, tourists spend their time biking or hiking the park’s many trails. At the same time, the Towpath Trail is one of the most popular ones in the area, with a rich history and which is worth to be visited. The natural scenery is another thing that impresses visitors. People can enjoy the sound and views of waterfalls, rolling hills, caves and winding river scenery which attracts more and more visitors every year. The park has also conserved displays of the 19th and 20th century farming and pastoral living but has, at the same time, combined these sceneries and unique lifestyle display with various contemporary interests such as art exhibits, concerts and railroad tours.
The Cuyahoga national valley park is also the home of the Stanford House, formerly known as the Stanford Hostel. This is an establishment built in the 1830s in the Cuyahoga Park by one of the first settlers in the Western Reserve, George Stanford. After being renovated by the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley national park, this house became the first in-park lodging facility that people could access in Cuyahoga Valley since March 2011.
